John H. Reed, PhD MBA MAT
President

John holds a PhD in Training and Development, a Masters in Teaching and an MBA. He has more than 35 years of experience working for top Fortune corporations in management and professional positions. His extensive business knowledge and experience includes training and education, financial management, organizational analysis and design, project management, and computer systems development. In addition to being president of The Learning Business, he is also a senior instructor and instructor mentor in the graduate business program for a major for-profit university. He was recently a member of the advisory committee for a technical college and served as an instructor group leader and course analyst while in the military.

Dr. Reed consults and facilitates in the areas of Business-Education Alliances, Training Needs Assessment, Training Evaluation, Employee Development, and Training Organizations. He conducts workshops in Presentation Skills, Problem Solving, Training-the-Trainier, Team Leadership, and Employee Career Development.

Dr. Reed’s work with organizations and organizational development from local to national levels includes chairing positions in School-to-Career, Workforce Investment, the International Process Technology Alliance, a national conference for the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), and he has served as President for an ASTD chapter. He has also served on executive committees for NSF grants and represented US manufacturing on the US-European Network. He has helped to build several public and private training organizations as well as a nationally adopted 2-year degree program in process technology.

John brings a unique perspective to the business of learning: that learning is a business. John has published articles, papers and a book chapter concerning adult education and training evaluation. He authored the popular A Guide to Classroom Instruction for Adjunct Faculty, which was originally published in 2002, with a 2nd edition released in 2006. He recently published an update to his Guide to Effective Presentations which was released in August, 2008. He has presented at numerous local, regional and national conferences and workshops in the areas of training, training evaluation, presentation skills, and business-education alliance building. He was inducted into Who's Who and is a decorated military veteran.
